چکیده

Background: This prospective study aimed at evaluating the ability of 18 Ffluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography ( 18 F-FDG PET/CT) to predict chemosensitivity in estrogen receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (ER+/HER2-) breast cancer. Methods: 64 consecutive patients underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT scans at baseline and after the second course of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The evolution (Δ) between the two scans of image parameters (SUVmax, SUVmean, metabolic tumor volume, and total lesion glycolysis “TLG”) was measured. Correlations between early changes of PET-derived parameters and pathological response found on surgical specimens at completion of 8 courses of NAC were estimated with Mann-Whitney-U tests. Response prediction on the basis of clinical data, histological type, or molecular markers was also assessed (Fisher’s exact test). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to compare area under the curves (AUC) of the various parameters. ha l-0 07 77 90 1, v er si on 1 18 J an 2 01 3

Predictive ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for pathological complete response and prognosis after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer patients

Objective The mortality of patients with locally advanced triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is high, and pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is associated with improved prognosis. This retrospective study was designed and powered to investigate the ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) to predict pat...

Efficiency of fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography to predict prognosis in breast cancer patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has become a standard therapy for patients with advanced breast cancer. Pathological complete response (pCR) after NAC is an important prognostic indicator, but some patients with pCR continue to experience recurrence. So new predictive and prognostic markers in addition to pCR are needed following NAC for breast cancer. Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomogr...

Triage of Limited Versus Extensive Disease on 18F-FDG PET/CT Scan in Small Cell lung Cancer

Objective(s): Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive neuroendocrine carcinoma, which accounts for 10-15% of pulmonary cancers and exhibits early metastatic spread. This study aimed to determine the added value of 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging in tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) staging of SCLC, compared to the conventional computed tomography (CT) scan and its potential role as a prognosticat...

Can Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography with the Dual Tracers Fluorine-18 Fluoroestradiol and Fluorodeoxyglucose Predict Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response of Breast Cancer? ----A Pilot Study

OBJECTIVE To assess the clinical value of dual tracers Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) (18)F-fluoroestradiol ((18)F-FES) and (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) in predicting neoadjuvant chemotherapy response (NAC) of breast cancer. METHODS Eighteen consecutive patients with newly diagnosed, non-inflammatory, stage II and III breast cancer undergoing NAC were includ...

F-18 FDG PET/CT Imaging of Eccrine Sweat Gland Carcinoma of the Scrotum with Extensive Regional and Distant Metastases

Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. It usually spreads to regional lymph nodes, with liver, lungs, and bones being the most common sites of distant metastasis. Because of tumor rarity, little is known about the value of F18- FDG PET/CT...
